The 8th Annual Kingman Polar Bear Plunge
Thursday January 1st, 2009
High Noon @ Grandview Pool (corner of Grandview & Gold St. in downtown
Kingman)
Eight years and counting and the participation is increasing each year.
What started out as a fun challenge has turned into a local “folk” style
activity to start the coming of the New Year. The plunge is open to all that
are interested in starting off their new year in a “chilling” way by braving
the near freezing waters of Grandview Pool. All participants will receive a
Polar Bear Tee Shirt and for the real brave of heart, several prizes await
the swimmers at the abyss of Downtown Pool. Hot cider, hot chocolate and
freshly popped corn, along with cheese, crackers and salami will be on the
menu for all to partake. The Event is FREE! Hot showers await all swimmers
at the events conclusion. The “Plunge” will take place at exactly Noon on
New Years Day, not a minute before or after the hour.
Note:
The brisk temperatures of the water might not be suitable for
everyone. If you have a heart condition or history of heart related
problems, the Polar Bear Plunge may not be the activity for you to
participate in. If unsure if the shock of cold water is harmful to your
health, you should consult your physician prior to participating. All
plungers do so at their own risk.
